A key part of this project involved testing and validating our approach to measuring social capital and social infrastructure in communities across Australia.
In collaboration with the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) we focused on three pilot locations – Adelaide City, Whyalla and Kangaroo Island.
Their unique strengths and challenges gave us valuable early insights into what connection-led resilience looks like across Australia.
Built on reliable, nationally consistent data and guided by Professor Aldrich’s global research, the National Social Capital + Social Infrastructure Measurement Framework allows results to be compared across Australia and tracked over time.
To make sure our measures truly reflect Australian communities, we went further than usual by testing our data indicators through both internal and external validation.
